During the Motstoy Festival on Norway on October 6, Swedish progmetal band Pain Of Salvation will say goodbye to their drummer Johan Langell and welcome their new drummer. It has not been revealed yet who the new drummer will be. Both drummers will perform at the festival.

Dream Theater's Chaos in Motion world tour starts today (October 1st) in Hannover, Germany. The guys from DT will take their tour through Europe in October and November. They will visit Germany, Poland, Belgium, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland and Spain.

Liquid Tension Experiment (Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess, and Tony Levin from King Crimson) recorded their second album in 1998. During the recording sessions, John had to leave because his pregnant wife went into labor. The rest of the band just kept jamming in the studio.

Mike Portnoy recorded these jams, and they are now being released as Liquid Trio Experiment - Spontaneous Combustion.

Marillion Somewhere in London live DVD

Marillion's Somewhere Else tour was filmed at the Forum in London in June 2007, and the band are releases it on Racket Records as an Extended Edition 2DVD called Somewhere in London. It's scheduled for release in November 2007.

The DVD's contain a compilation of both nights at the Forum, with a sound track in stereo and 5.1 surround sound.

Marillion have published the contents of their annual Christmas CD, which is a limited edition CD, delivered as a gift with their official fanclub membership. The CD's title is Somewhere Elf, and it contains the Christmas classic Let it Snow and 8 Marillion live tracks, along with the band's Christmas message.

Neal Morse plays in European churches

Neal Morse

Neal Morse will once again be playing at a number of church services in Europe during October and November. According to Neal's website, "He will be playing songs from his solo work, as well as an occasional song from Transatlantic and Spock's Beard, but these are church services, and he will be speaking and praying and following the spirit."

Threshold Best Of: Ravages Of Time

Threshold will release their first ever "Best Of" collection in November, featuring over 140 minutes of music from all their studio albums plus some previously unreleased radio edits. The album will be released by Threshold's previous label Inside Out Music. The tracklisting for the compilation, entitled "The Ravages Of Time (The Best of Threshold)", was selected by the band in conjunction with the label. "The decision to include the unreleased single edits was because we know there are a lot of fans who are frustrated when there are edits made but not available on CD", commented Richard West. "Of course there wasn't room for everything but between us we thought it was a good overall list".
